Metrel A1532 XA, Advanced EV Charge Point Adaptor (EVSE)

The Metrel A1532 XA EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) Advanced Adapter is specially designed for the functional testing and verification of electrical safety for Mode 3 electric vehicle charging stations with a type 2 connector when used in conjunction with a multifunction tester (MFT).  This advanced XA version supports 3 phase load testing up to 13 A and different error types, including PE open.

The adapter enables you to test your EV charge point and connection cables ‘live’ without opening the box.

It simulates a vehicle connected to the charge point with selectable options available for charge output including:

• Disconnected
• Charge Ready
• Charging
• Pilot Error

This advanced XA version also adds in additional functionality over the standard EVSE adapter model including the following functions:

• Diode short error simulation
• PE open error simulation
• CP short error simulation (E state)
• Load test up to 13 A

Suitable for simulating vehicles with cooling / ventilation power requirements and those without.

All tests (Insulation, Voltage / Frequency, Earth Loop, PFC and RCD) can be performed externally without the need to open the box and access internal terminals. The A1532 XA EVSE Adaptor has a BNC connector directly accessing the Control Pilot for analysis of the station signals for different charging states.

The adaptor also enables full testing of the associated connection cabling and plugs / sockets in use (normally this cannot be achieved without energising the charging circuit).

The A1532 XA can be used with ANY standard Multifunction Tester (MFT) that feature universal 4mm banana connections, however, some Metrel MFT models have dedicated functionality and autosequences specifically designed to make EV charge point testing as easy as possible (e.g. the MI3152).
