FLIR TG165 - Infrared Thermometer with Heatmap

The FLIR TG165 is a unique infrared thermometer that also produces a thermal heatmap. While this isn't thermal camera as such, it is an ideal tool for basic applications where you want to rely more on the thermal pattern to locate the fault. With the addition of the 80 x 60 pixel detector, you'll see clear thermal patterns which can indicate problems such as moisture ingress, blocked pipes or radiators, overheating cables and more.

As a thermometer, the TG165 will measure temperature from -25°C to +380°C. It features adjustable emissivity from 0.1 to 0.99 and 2 different colour palettes are available, grey scale and ironbow.

The TG165 works on the same principle as an IR thermometer for temperature measurement. The further you are from the target, the larger the measurement area becomes. To assist with this, the TG165 features two lasers, so you can clearly see if you are measuring the specific object with the target spot. It's supplied with an 8GB micro SD card for image storage, images can be transferred to a PC for reporting purposes once downloaded.

How does it differ from a true thermal imaging camera?

A thermal camera for diagnostic or survey purposes would record a temperature measurement for each pixel of the image, this is known as a radiometric image. The TG165 only records one single spot temperature measurement and the image is captured as a bitmap file, this means that no further modification can be made to the image once it has been captured.
