The Fluke 805 vibration meter is an excellent tool for condition checking, tracking any degradation of machinery and making recommendations for scheduled maintenance or replacement of plant.
If you are involved in vibration testing, you'll understand the limitations of standard vibration pens and the need for a meter that will give you readings that are reliable and trustworthy. Most standard vibration pens give an only give you a number indicating the vibration or bearing condition. Due to the fact that problems caused by vibration can be related to pain points or inadequate design, the use of vibration pens for diagnosis is generally advised against, as the results will not be easy to interpret.
The Fluke 805 solves these issues in one easy-to-use meter. Quantifiable results are obtained during testing or the bearing condition, overall temperature and vibration and in addition it will assess the severity of any problems using text based alerts. The data is stored and can then be transferred to Excel for result & condition analysis over time.
Export & Trend with Microsoft Excel
The Fluke 805 has a built-in memory that will store up to 3,500 results. These can then be exported and plotted in Microsoft Excel for further trend analysis. The overall vibration readings can then be compared to the relevant ISO standards (10816-1, 10816-3 & 10816-7).
Using this feature you can provide clear and concise information as to the condition of machinery and make accurate recommendations for any maintenance works or replacement.
Crest Factor+
Crest factor is a technology used in vibration analysis to identify faults with bearings. The crest factor is the ratio of peak value / RMS value of a time domain vibration signal.
There are limitations to using crest factor, the main one being that it doesn't increase linearly as the bearing degrades. It can actually decrease as the bearing nears critical failure due to large RMS values.
Crest Factor+ from Fluke is an enhancement of the standard technology, with values ranging from 1 to 16. As the bearing gets worse, the Crest Factor+ reading will increase, this is also coupled with a four level severity indicator, making it easy to see the state of the bearing.
