Martindale VI-15000, Voltage Indicator

The industry standard in the UK just got better. The Martindale VI-15000 is the latest two pole voltage indicator with LED indication to 690V, with a 1000V CAT IV safety rating. This indicator has been produced to cater for the safety requirements of the manufacturing and rail industry. Ensure compliance with health & safety recommendations for safe working in all BS EN61010 installation categories.

The voltage indicator features dual insulation on the cable. The inner section is a different colour, making it clear if any damage has occurred. In addition, a resistor has been built-in to the probe to ensure current flow is limited in the event that the cable becomes damaged.

The Martindale VI-15000 features clear LED indication of voltage and is recommended for use in safe isolation procedures in order to prove dead. Failure to verify that a circuit is dead using the correct equipment has led to serious injury and in some cases, death. Dedicated proving units, the Martindale PD690 & PD700, are also available to give you a known source to verify against when testing. The Martindale VI-15000 can be purchased as a kit with the proving unit and carry case.

Multimeters are not Recommended for Safe Isolation
The use of a multimeter to prove dead is not recommended by the Electrical Safety Council. The reason for this is that it can be too easy to mistakenly select the wrong range and also the multimeter requires battery power to operate, therefore if the battery is low on power, or dead, then it is possible to make a false reading.
