The Seaward AGL-5 is a high voltage (HV) two pole tester that can detect voltage ranging from 50V AC/ 70V DC up to 5,000V (5kV) AC or DC.
It features high-intensity, polarised LEDs to give a clear indication of voltage in all lighting conditions, and the tapered tips give easy access to difficult to reach terminals.
The AGL-5 was originally designed to test Airfield Ground Lighting (hence the AGL name) as runway lighting doesn’t use RCDs or other protection measures as these could potentially trip large areas of an airfield making it inoperable and dangerous for aircraft. Therefore the AGL-5 was developed to easily check for the presence of voltage, without affecting system performance. It fully complies with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) CAP168 Regulations.
