Why the Megger MPCC230 Pro Circuit Checker Deserves a Spot in Your Toolkit

Megger MPCC230 Pro Circuit Checker – A Handy Tool for Quick Circuit Checks

Sometimes you just need to check a socket or confirm a circuit quickly without unpacking your full test kit.

That is where the Megger MPCC230 Pro Circuit Checker comes into its own. It is small enough to carry easily, and it performs several useful tests that make day-to-day verification work much quicker.

What Is the Megger MPCC230 Pro Circuit Checker?

The MPCC230 is a plug-in circuit tester designed for fast electrical checks. Plug it directly into a socket and you can carry out several tests from one device:

For electricians working on installation, commissioning or maintenance tasks, it provides quick readings without needing to set up a full multifunction tester.

Build Quality and Design

The MPCC230 is supplied in a Megger-branded protective case with space for accessories.

The unit itself has solid two-tone housing and a clear 1.77 inch TFT display.

Operation is straightforward. Three function buttons sit alongside the familiar red Megger test button. The UK version comes with a standard 3-pin plug so it is ready to use straight away on site.

Testing Performance

Inside the unit is Megger’s SuperCap technology. This built-in capacitor keeps the instrument powered long enough to hold readings even after the tester is unplugged from the supply.

The MPCC230 supports compliance testing in line with IEC 61557-3 and IEC 61557-6 standards. That makes it suitable for both residential and commercial work where electricians need accurate readings when verifying socket circuits and supply characteristics.

Storing and Exporting Test Results

The tester can store up to 64 results for loop and RCD measurements. These readings can be reviewed directly on the instrument when needed.

For reporting, Megger provides the free MPCC Link App for Android and iOS.

Instead of Bluetooth pairing, the device generates a QR code which you scan using your phone.

The test data transfers instantly and can be exported as PDF or CSV files for documentation.

Calibration and Traceability

Calibration certificates are available digitally through the app using a QR code. This confirms the tester meets specification for AC voltage, loop and RCD measurements.

Like other professional test instruments, the MPCC230 can be calibrated annually by UKAS-traceable laboratories, so it can be included as part of a regular calibration schedule.

Is It a Replacement for a Multifunction Tester?

No, while the MPCC230 performs several test functions, it is not designed to replace a full 18th Edition multifunction tester.

Testing is carried out through a standard 3-pin socket, so it cannot perform point-to-point testing with leads. RCD testing is limited to 30 mA types A, AC and F at 1/2 x, 1 x and 5 x current. Other tests such as insulation resistance or continuity still require a dedicated tester.

Where it really helps is during socket verification, machine commissioning or quick circuit checks. For many electricians it provides a fast way to confirm circuit conditions without carrying a full tester setup.
